GInput Privacy Policy
Effective date: 13 October 2026
GInput is an Android keyboard made by JetPiggy. This policy explains what data GInput handles, why, and how you can control it. In short: what you type stays on your phone. Text is sent for processing only when you tap a Translate or Rewrite option.
What you type
Except as described under “Translate and Rewrite” below, GInput never collects, stores on a server or sends anything you type, including text, passwords, clipboard contents, the candidates you pick, and which app you are typing in. All typing is processed on your phone.
When you enable a keyboard, Android warns that it “may be able to collect all the text you type”. Android shows this warning for every keyboard; GInput does not do this.
Translate and Rewrite
Tapping Translate or Rewrite in the toolbar opens the Translate or Rewrite panel. The first time, the panel explains where your text will be sent, and you can use these features only after you tap Agree. After that, GInput sends text only when you tap an option in the panel, such as English or Fix typos:
- What is sent: the text you have selected, or the whole text box if nothing is selected, up to 1,000 characters. The request contains only this text and the option you chose, with no identifiers.
- Where it goes: over an encrypted connection to our server on Cloudflare (ginput-ai.jetpiggy.com), where Cloudflare’s Workers AI processes it with Google’s Gemma model and returns the result to your phone. Your text is not sent to Google. Processing may take place in Cloudflare data centres outside Hong Kong.
- Our server does not log the text or the result and has request logging turned off. It records only how many requests it handled each day and how much computing they used. To prevent abuse, it counts requests per minute by IP address; this count is held only temporarily in Cloudflare’s memory and is never stored.
- Cloudflare does not use the text to train AI models or improve its services, and does not make it available to other customers. We do not use any Cloudflare storage service to keep it. See Cloudflare’s Workers AI data usage page and privacy policy.
Your daily allowance is counted only on your phone. Translate and Rewrite are not available in password fields. Please don’t send anything you would not want a third party to process.
Data that stays on your phone
- Remembered characters: characters you often pick and how often, so they can come first.
- Characters typed together: with continuous typing on, pairs of characters you type next to each other and how often, so whole-sentence suggestions get better.
- Recently used emoji.
- Clipboard history: while GInput is running, it keeps text you copy so you can use it again from the keyboard’s clipboard; up to 20 items, each deleted 1 hour after you copied it.
- Translate and Rewrite daily count: how many times you used them today, without the text.
This data stays on your phone. It is never sent anywhere and is not included in Android backups. You can delete remembered characters and characters typed together in Settings → Chinese input → Clear remembered characters; uninstalling GInput deletes everything.
GInput records no remembered characters, characters typed together, emoji or clipboard history in password fields or in fields that ask not to learn, such as a browser’s incognito mode. Clipboard history also skips content that an app marks as sensitive, such as a password copied from a password manager. If a password manager does not mark a password as sensitive, GInput cannot tell, so it is kept like any other text and deleted after 1 hour. You can delete an item by long-pressing it on the keyboard, or turn clipboard history off in Settings → Clipboard and phrases → Clipboard history, which deletes everything it has kept.
Settings, saved phrases and backup
GInput’s settings, such as your input schemes and keyboard height, and your saved phrases are included in Android backup and stored in your own Google account if you have backup turned on. We cannot see these backups. You can edit or delete saved phrases in Settings → Clipboard and phrases → Saved phrases.
Voice input
Tapping the microphone in the toolbar switches to the voice input keyboard on your phone, such as Google voice typing. GInput itself never records audio and does not ask for microphone permission; recording and recognition are handled by that voice input keyboard, under its own privacy policy.
Crash reports (on by default)
When GInput crashes or stops responding, it sends technical details to Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.), stored in its European Union data centre, so we can find and fix the problem. A crash report contains:
- the type of crash and the stack trace (where in the code it happened)
- the GInput version
- the phone model, Android version, and device state such as memory and storage
Crash reports never include what you type. Before sending, GInput removes error messages, logs and user identifiers, and Sentry is set not to store your IP address. Sentry keeps this data for at most 90 days. You can turn crash reports off in Settings → Privacy → Crash reports.
Usage statistics (off by default)
GInput sends usage statistics only if you agree. It asks during setup, and you can change your choice in Settings → Privacy → Usage statistics. When turned on, GInput sends at most one report a day, about the previous day, to our server on Cloudflare (ginput-stats.jetpiggy.com). A report contains only:
- the date and the GInput and Android versions
- your main settings, such as which input schemes are on, whether continuous typing is on, the space bar mode and the keyboard height
- how many times each feature was used that day, such as how many Chinese candidates you picked or how many times you used English suggestions, emoji or Translate
Reports never include what you type and contain no identifiers. The server only adds each report to daily totals; it does not keep individual reports or record IP addresses. Nothing is counted in password fields or fields that ask not to learn. When you turn usage statistics off, any counts on your phone that have not been sent are deleted immediately.
Checking for updates
If GInput was not installed from Google Play, it reads the version information and announcements on ginput.jetpiggy.com when you open GInput settings and when the keyboard opens (at most once a day), and tells you in settings when there is a new version or an announcement. The request contains no personal data and nothing you type. The site is hosted on Cloudflare. We do not log visitors’ requests; Cloudflare handles IP addresses when it serves the site, as described in Cloudflare’s privacy policy. Copies installed from Google Play are updated by Google Play.
Permissions
GInput asks only for network access, used for crash reports, usage statistics, checking for updates and announcements, and Translate and Rewrite.
Children
GInput is a keyboard for general use, not designed specifically for children. Whatever the user’s age, GInput does not collect data that identifies anyone.
Your rights
Because we do not collect data that identifies you, we usually cannot find any data that belongs to you. If you have any privacy questions or requests, please contact us.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above, and mention important changes in GInput’s release notes.
